The powder metallurgy stainless steel process primarily involves the following steps:

1. Powder Preparation: Typically, water atomization is used to rapidly cool and solidify molten stainless steel through a high-pressure air/water stream into a fine, spherical powder.

2. Powder Mixing: The stainless steel powder is mixed with a suitable lubricant to enhance compacting performance.

3. Pressing: The mixed powder is pressed under high pressure to form a compact.

4. Debinding (if any): Any binder added during the pressing process is removed.

5. High-Temperature Sintering: Sintering at 1100°C to 1400°C in a vacuum or hydrogen atmosphere densifies the powder particles, forming a high-density stainless steel part.

6. Post-Processing: This includes machining, deburring, and rust prevention to ensure part dimensional accuracy and surface quality.

Powder metallurgy stainless steel has a wide range of applications, primarily in the following areas:

·Automotive Industry: Manufacturing key components such as engines, transmissions, and brake systems, which require corrosion resistance, high strength, and wear resistance. · Mechanical Industry: Used in machine tools, tools, molds, and other parts, emphasizing high strength, high precision, and wear resistance.

· Electronics Industry: Used in the manufacture of electronic components, connectors, sensors, etc., focusing on conductivity and dimensional accuracy.

· Sports Equipment: Used in bicycle parts, golf clubs, skis, and other sports equipment that require lightweight and corrosion resistance.

· Household Goods: Used in kettles, tableware, kitchenware, etc., requiring corrosion resistance, aesthetics, and durability. Seals: Used in components requiring excellent sealing and corrosion resistance, such as gas fittings, high-pressure water pumps, and automotive wipers.

Compared to traditional cast and forged steel, powder metallurgy stainless steel offers advantages such as reduced element segregation, finer and more uniform microstructure, superior mechanical properties, and reduced manufacturing costs.
